I am trying to Break Your Heart….(Jeff Tweedy)

“….I’ve been hiding out in the big city blinking,
What was I thinking when I let go of you….”

It was appropriate and bittersweet that this particular show was on the same date a few years ago that changed my life forever.  An anniversary, if you will.   And appropriately it was Jeff Tweedy, frontman for the band Wilco at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix Arizona.  An amazing show.  Did I say amazing?  I meant AMAZING… I had the pleasure of shooting this show for the Californian. I have to admit that I was a bit distracted by his beloved and beautiful music making this  particular show bit harder than most to shoot.  I’m a big Wilco fan and Jeff Tweedy’s music speaks to me.  If you haven’t heard Wilco or Jeff Tweedy before, I suggest you go out right now to your local music store or iTunes and purchase any and everything you can.  He included some of my favorite Wilco songs in his set – Hummingbird, I’m the Man that Loves You,  I Am Trying to Break Your Heart….and as usual, interjected with his wit.

Jeff is extremely smart and funny,  and his songwriting is unmatched.   And if you happen to be nursing a broken heart, aren’t ready to give up hope, or have a severe case of Wishful Thinking (like me…), or need an emotional healing (like me…), Either Way, Wilco will love you Baby…  And since there isn’t as much joy in something that isn’t shared, here are a few images from the show….wish I could have shared more….

Special thanks Matt Munoz, Charlie and his group at the gorgeous Orpheum Theatre for being so accommodating, and course, thank you Mr. Tweedy…in more ways than one….

  10. Were you the really pretty blond taking the photos in front of the stage during the concert? My husband and I were sitting in the second row of the pit and I was fascinated watching you photograph Jeff. You smelled really good too, I loved your perfume! Great show and amazing photographs.
